The FMEA discipline was developed in the United States Military in 1949. Ford renamed this problem solving methodology in the 1980's and 'procedure-ised' it as their 8 Disciplines Problem Solving requirement. I've always thought of the 8th step (Congratulate Your Team) as a given. Chrysler must have as well - their requirement is, I believe, called the 7-D.
